Spring 2020 Final Exam Relief FAQ

On the evening of June 3, 2020, DePaul University Faculty Council passed a resolution aiming to bring some relief to all students as they approach their final exams during this difficult time in our history. To alleviate any confusion regarding the resolution, the College of Education solicited questions from our students and the answers to those questions are below.

  • What is the new policy regarding Spring 2020 final exams that was approved June 3?

  • Who chooses which of the three options to use?

  • Can professors offer more than one of the options?

  • Can professors choose not to offer any of the options?

  • How will students know which option(s) the professor is offering?

  • Can professors create modifications to any of the three options?

  • If a professor hasn’t submitted grades into D2L yet, how should a student know whether or not option #1 is a good choice?

  • What are the rules regarding incomplete grades?

  • If a student takes an Incomplete in Spring 2020, what is the deadline for handing in the work?

  • If a student takes an incomplete in Spring quarter 2020, will the Pass / D / Fail policy still apply?

  • If a faculty member offers students option #2, can any subsequent assignments harm their grade?

  • Have final exams been cancelled?
