Preparing and applying for the student teaching experience is a multi-step process that begins over a year before you plan to student teach. It is important that you are familiar with the process and the deadlines for each step so that you are not delayed in completing your degree.
Admission Stage I - Initial Application
Admission Stage II - Academic Clearance
Admission Stage III - Student Teaching Approval
Student Teaching Committee
The Student Teaching Committee in the College of Education reviews all applications for student teaching. The Student Teaching Committee meets to review and approve candidates for admission to student teaching based on the requirements and documentation of completing Stages I, II and III.
To be admitted to student teaching, students must receive final approval from the Student Teaching Committee.
Note: After grades are posted from the quarter prior to student teaching, student teacher candidates will be notified only if they have NOT successfully completed all requirements for student teaching (Stages I, II, and III).
Appeals Committee
Students who are denied student teaching approval by the Student Teaching Committee have the right to an appeal. Information on the appeals process can be found in the Student Handbook.
