Katie battled and ultimately lost her life to cystic fibrosis. Her family hopes that this library will give other teacher candidates the resources that will facilitate excellence in their teaching careers. Through this initiative, pre-service teachers have access to a collection of quality, award-winning children’s literature to use during their training, continuing the work that was so dear to Katie’s heart.
Access the Library
The Katie Brown Memorial Library contains over 850 titles, with many titles featuring multiple copies. Genres include Children’s Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, Stories for Overcoming Obstacles, Informative Nonfiction, Biographies, Historical Fiction and Nonfiction, Poetry and Theatre, Classic Literature, and Graphic Novels. The library also houses a large collection of bilingual books.
The Katie Brown Memorial Library is located within the College of Education, outside the Academic Success Center (Room 270). If you are interested in checking out a book, please visit the Academic Success Center Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and bring your official DePaul ID. Questions?
